South of Brikama near the Senegal border.
Penyem is open woodland to the East of Marakissa.
The Marakissa site includes a river, attractive to many species.

Target birds will be Long-crested Eagle, Wahlberg’s Eagle, Lizard Buzzard, Lanner and Red necked Falcon, African Harrier Hawk, Grey Kestrel, Dwarf and Little Bittern, Black Crake, Greater Painted Snipe, White breasted Cuckoo, Red shouldered Cuckoo-shrike, African Golden Oriole, Yellow bellied Hyliota, Yellow throated Leaflove, both Honeyguides as well as kingfishers and starlings.

Located at the most Southerly point on the West Coast. Featuring a wide diversity of habitats including its renowned wetlands.

A wide variety of species can be encountered here. Just some of the more interesting species are- Black Crake, African Crake, African Jacana, Purple Swamphen, Allen’s Gallinule, Greater Painted Snipe, White fronted and Kentish Plover, Collared Pratincole, African Pygmy Goose, Malachite and Grey headed Kingfishers, Eurasian Wryneck, Isabelline Shrike, Blue-cheeked Bee-eater, Yellow backed Weaver, Plain backed Pipit and Palm Nut Vulture.
